faux bronze patina
specialist decorators technique: faux metals
This ornate cast iron balustrade in a London villa was treated with a faux bronze paint effect to emulate the patina of antique bronze. The treatment was carried out on similar items of decorative metal work in the hallways and lobby of the villa. Traditional specialist decorative techniques such as faux bronze can be used to tie together various elements within a design scheme or to link with the period interior of the building. The faux bronze patina is one of number of paint effects simulating the appearance of metals. These effects include the patination of gold, silver and copper metal leaf and the representation of old weathered lead, copper, iron and brass with paints.
