rag rolling paint effects
scumbled finish
This is rag rolling in which a rag or chamois leather is rolled down or up a wet scumble coated wall, a technique generally termed 'scumbling'. This is opposed to ragging which is the texturing by means of a clump of cloth. This is very much a classic paint effect technique for providing subtle interest whilst being able to control precisely the colours and tones of the walls. Done well it has a sophisticated dignity and a soft appearance reminiscent of fabric and is easy on the eye.
