rag rolling paint effect

paint effect made by rolling cloth in wet paint

This is rag rolling in which a rag or chamois is rolled down or up a scumble coated wall. This is opposed to ragging which is the texturing by means of a clump of cloth. This is very much a classic technique for providing subtle interest whilst being able to control precisely the colours and tones of the walls. Done well it has a sophisticated dignity and a soft appearance reminiscent of fabric and is easy on the eye.
