distressed paint effect

furniture made old looking with distressed Gustavian paint effect

specialist decoration gustavian shabby chic

Custom distressed paint effect to fitted furniture in a broadly Gustavian style. A similar effect was used on walls and furniture throughout the suite of rooms. This particular paint effect represents the quality of old and time worn linseed oil paints or milk paints used up until the turn of the century. These produce a mellow 'shabby chic' finish. Antiquing and distressing of paint finishes allows the use of several colours to be used harmoniously on one piece, as one layer of paint is worn away to reveal a previous layer. These effects can be used to create the French Country look as well as the Scandinavian look.
