faux wood graining maple

This faux paint effect depicts the wood graining of maple in the Biedermeier manner. This was a German style originating in the first half of the 19th century which was based on French Empire forms. These German interpretations were homely versions created largely by local craftsmen using locally available materials such as maple, birch, pear and walnut. Carved details were often represented in black or gold paints, a fact which significantly aids the faux paint finish replication of this style when wood graining is used to emulated the style by the specialist decorator.
