faux marble paint effect
St.Annes marble
This is a Belgian marble in popular use in the late Victorian and Edwardian periods for decorative work. In use in common with other predominantly black marbles it needs to be relieved by lighter and brighter elements for which it is a good foil. Belgium produces a number of black marbles including Blue Belge and Grand Antique. A faux marble paint effect can transform the elements of an interior with relative ease. A more usual commission for the specialist decorator called to produce a black marble is that of Grand Antique which is a highly decorative black and white marble in its own right.
